Shawarma Nachos with Harissa

Nacho plate with shawarma beef, pomegranate, hummus and harissa. A Mexican special with Eastern Mediterranean flavours.

How to prepare

Shawarma beef:

  1. Heat oil in a large pan. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.

2. Stir in Santa Maria Shawarma Seasoning and cook for another 2–3 minutes until fully incorporated. Add 100 ml water and let simmer.

Assembling nachos:
Preheat the oven to 200°C.

  1. Spread the Santa Maria Nacho Chips evenly on a large ovenproof platter or plate.

  2. Put the seasoned beef over the chips.

  3. Mix Harissa Sauce with Cheese Sauce.

  4. Pour harissa cheese sauce over the nacho chips

  5. Bake for 4–6 minutes, until the chips are warm.

Adding toppings:
Remove the nachos from the oven.
Add diced avocado, red onion, cucumber and pomegranate seeds.
Drizzle with hummus for extra flavor.
Garnish with fresh coriander/parsley and serve with lemon wedges on the side.

Tips!
Sprinkle feta cheese on top.
To add even more Middle Eastern flair, serve with tahini sauce on the side.
