How to prepare
Mix the Preserved Lemon Paste with sugar in a small saucepan.
Add a splash of water to help dissolve the sugar.
Bring to a gentle boil while stirring until the sugar has fully dissolved.
Let it simmer for a few minutes until slightly thickened.
Remove from heat and let the sauce thicken as it cools.
Tips!
This sweet lemon sauce is the perfect topping for vanilla ice cream, Greek yoghurt and panna cotta. Try it with Middle Eastern desserts like basbousa (semolina cake), baklava or over warm semolina porridge. Swap the regular sugar for muscovado sugar to get a deeper caramel-like sweetness.
